This is a simple and immediate intro to textile art.
Instructor Bio: Estelle Akamine’s unique ideas about fiber art has informed her many explorations: designing costume design as sculpture for performance art, as artist in residence creating wearable art from trash at the SF’s dump worn at the Black and White Ball, as public art quilts in mesh at Oakland’s City Hall, the Wedding Room at Alameda County Recorder’s office and Kaiser Milpitas. Her MFA degree from San Jose State University is in plastic arts with an emphasis in fibers.
