Every one of the art educators in our state plays an essential role in serving our arts ecosystem in California. With the passing of Proposition 28, there has never been a better time to nurture professional growth among your Visual Arts educators, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to participate in Arts at school, regardless of age, race, zip code, language, ability, capacity, or competency. Proposition 28 is the largest investment in arts in our nation’s history and would establish California as a national leader, but only if properly implemented with strong professional learning.
Recognizing the evolving growth of needs for art educators in serving an increasingly diverse young Artists from Pre-K to University, the California Art Education Association (CAEA) is pleased to announce the in-person convening of hundreds of art educators for the 2024 CAEA Statewide Conference in Orange, California November 8–11, 2024. The 2024 CAEA State-wide Conference offers a comprehensive opportunity for educators in visual arts, design, and media arts to explore exemplary models of best practices and evidence-based methodologies.
Conference Highlights include keynotes by Lalo Alcaraz, two-time Pulitzer editorial cartoon finalist, Herblock Prize awardee and consultant for the animated movie “Coco.” Along with artist Wendy McNaughton, who regularly speaks and gives workshops on the unique power drawing offers to help us slow down, get curious, look deeply, and connect to people and the world around us. Through hundreds of carefully selected sessions, interactive workshops, and discussions, participants will gain invaluable insights to enhance visual arts, design, and media arts curriculum, instruction, assessment, and leadership.
The conference delivers educational content that is applicable immediately to advance school and district-wide goals and objectives. Attendees will engage with a dynamic community of professionals, including art specialists, visual arts teachers, school administrators, university professors, preservice educators, researchers, and museum educators, all united in their dedication to supporting student learning through arts education.
