The leading voice in California for Art Education, CAEA.
Art Inspired, Educator Designed.
Welcome!
The California Art Education Association, in conjunction with the National Art Education Association, provides a wide variety of opportunities for members to grow professionally through events such as conferences, networking sessions with fellow educators from all over the state that offer the opportunity for thoughtful dialogue on topics of interest including classroom-, educational-, or art education advocacy-related questions, and online book club discussions. Additionally, CAEA offers student and professional development scholarships, the Youth Art Month program, and much more.
Dear CAEA Community,
As we observe both Pride Month and Juneteenth, we are reminded of the vibrant identities, histories, and lived experiences that shape and strengthen our CAEA community. These commemorations call us to celebrate resilience, reflect on our collective journey, and renew our commitment to fostering spaces that are inclusive, affirming, and safe for all.
We also recognize the deep concern and emotional toll many are feeling in response to recent events, including immigration enforcement within the U.S. and ongoing humanitarian and political crises in the Middle East. These developments directly impact our members, students, families, and colleagues. In these difficult times, we are reminded of our shared humanity and the importance of community care and connection.
As art educators, we have the unique responsibility and opportunity to create environments where students, from early childhood through adulthood, can explore their identities, express their emotions, and build empathy through creative practice. At CAEA, we believe every learner deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in ways that affirm their full humanity.
We also understand that June is a time of rest and renewal for many educators. After a demanding school year, this season offers an opportunity to recharge, reflect, and reconnect with your creativity and purpose, both personally and professionally.
Through this month, and beyond, we honor the strength of LGBTQIA+ youth and educators, the enduring legacy of Black freedom and joy, and the resilience of communities across the globe who continue to advocate for justice, dignity, and peace. These times invite us to lead with compassion, hold space for one another, and remain grounded in our shared values.
Art education continues to serve as a powerful force for healing, imagination, and connection. Thank you for all the ways you support your students, your communities, and one another. CAEA stands with you and wishes you a summer filled with rest, inspiration, and creative renewal.
With care and solidarity,
