CAEA Northern Area 2025 YAM Show Information

PBS KVIE Studios will allow us 100 works of art compared to the Crocker which only allowed us 80.

This will mean that each teacher will be allowed 2 pieces to start. After we have a better idea regarding how many teachers are participating, we may allow more pieces on a first come, first serve basis. You may email me, [email protected] & just title your email, “your name & add a 3rd piece”. We will make a list & contact you as the submissions come in. You will qualify for a 3rd piece depending on your number in line.

All submissions are due in by Friday, January 24th with NO exceptions. Complete & submit the entry form with all information; student statement & entry pic attachment. If you do not have all paperwork required to Jaime Shilen by this date or, miss the drop-off date, your place in the show will be given to another teacher.

We most sincerely ask that the quality of student work be at the best standard suitable for our exhibition. We are sorry that this topic has to be addressed but, in the past, we have received works of art that were not of the highest caliber. Please be aware that we use an extensive rubric for judging these pieces which demonstrate a high quality of effort, skill & professional presentation. You may not realize it, but the student statement accounts for 25% of the evaluation. We rely on the expertise of you, professional art educators, to choose the best representation of student work in your art program.

The CAEA YAM show is a privilege only open to active members of CAEA so please do not tell colleagues to enter the show unless they become members & email me proof of their membership receipt beforehand. Every teacher must have an individual membership, not one per school. Here is the membership link: https://www.caea-arteducation.org/join-caea. Please add your CAEA/NAEA member’s number next to your name on your submissions.

We are trying something new this year in an effort to make the submission process easier for all. We have tried our best to make it self-explanatory & since most of you art educators use Google Drive on a regular basis, hopefully it will be easier & with helping to eliminate stray forms that become difficult to track. Please DO NOT go to the CAEA page & use their submission forms.

This is how it works: You will receive a total of 4 links. There are 2 Google Forms:

• One form will be the teacher inventory form for you to indicate your intent to participate, provide contact information & list the 2 students. Upon completion, click on “Submit” at the bottom of the form & it will all be uploaded to Jaime.

• The second form will be the individual student entry form. All student information, art entry information, student statement & uploaded picture of their entry will be gathered through this form. If teachers are working with their students to fill out the forms, it is important to use the student’s Google account & email & not yours. Before filling out, please review Section C in explanations in the third link of what category the submitted work may be. We have had a confusion in the past with art placed in the wrong category. Upon completion, click on “Submit” at the bottom of the form & it will all be uploaded to Jaime.

• The third link is to detail instructions for completing the student entry form.

• The fourth is the “Student Release” document.

Once you finish and submit the forms, no changes/updates can be made by you. If you need to make any corrections or have questions/problems with the forms, contact Jaime Shilen at [email protected]
